Chennai vs China is a Hindi movie directed by Raghava Lawerence which is a remake of his own Tamil movie of the same name Chennai vs China . The movie was released on 17 March 2018. It was an official co-production between China and India. This is the first time when a Chinese production is being remade in an Indian language. The main cast includes Sathyaraj, Jackie Shroff, Sonal Chauhan, Nikitin Dheer and Puja Gupta in the lead roles with Nassar, Navdeep and Chakri Toleti in supporting roles. It is also the first Indian movie in which Jackie Shroff and Sathyaraj appeared together. The film is about Er. Ashwin, who is a software engineer in Chennai and lives with his wife Anjali and son Ranjan. Ashwin's life takes a sudden turn when he finds himself trapped in a parallel world where he finds himself surrounded by people with similar faces but very different personalities than his own family. Er. Ashwin unexpectedly finds himself in China where he ends up saving the life of a young Tibetan boy named Lungtok and falls in love with him. Er. Ashwin tries to find a way back to his family and falls for Lungtok's sister, Mei Ling, who happens to be Chinese of Tibetan descent. Er. Ashwin succeeds in showing that even though his life is different from what it was before he came to China, he can live a happy life here with Mei Ling and know what it is like to live free from the clutches of his wife's strict father so when Anjali decides to go visit them, Er. Ashwin and Lungtok successfully hide all physical evidence of him and his family's existence from her except for a picture of his son Ranjan and their house. After Anjali leaves for China, Ashwin goes back to his life with Mei Ling but later on Anjali visits again to get Ranjan back home. As she tries to get Ranjan back, she finds out that her husband has been hiding the truth from her. Sathyaraj portrays the role of Er.
